Safeguarding & Online Conduct
Last updated: September 2026
1. Our commitment
Immanuel Innovation is committed to providing a safe environment where students can build, share and celebrate their work. Safeguarding the wellbeing of every student who uses the platform comes before any other consideration.
2. Who you can interact with
To help keep collaboration safe and appropriate, following, direct messaging, group work and collaboration requests are only available between students confirmed to be at the same school or learning organisation. You can still see students from other organisations on Connect (with their organisation hidden), and view their public projects, but you cannot follow them, message them or request to collaborate with them.
3. Journals, comments and messages
Everything you write in a journal entry, group comment, message or nudge should be kind, honest and something you would be comfortable with a teacher or parent reading. A simple rule of thumb: do not post or send anything unless you would be comfortable with it being read aloud by your teacher or shown to your parent/guardian. Nothing online is ever truly private or fully deletable once sent.
4. Uploads and the public progress gallery
Screenshots and images you upload to a milestone can be shown to your teammates automatically, and - unless you choose to keep them private - may also appear on your project's public page so others can see and celebrate your progress. Never upload a photo, screenshot or file that shows your face, your home, your school uniform with identifying details, or anyone else without their permission. You can turn off public visibility for any image at upload time, and remove your own uploads at any time.
5. Portfolio and sharing your work
If you choose to make your portfolio page public and share its link (for example with a prospective employer, university or on social media), only include information you are comfortable with the wider world seeing. Do not include your home address, phone number, date of birth or other sensitive personal details. You can switch your portfolio back to private at any time.
6. Use of AI
Our AI mentoring features are a learning aid, not a substitute for advice from your teachers, mentors or parents/guardians. See our Use of AI page for details, and never share sensitive personal information with an AI feature.
7. Parents and guardians
For students below the age at which they can independently consent, we ask a parent/guardian to approve their account before certain social features become available, and parents/guardians can review or withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us. We encourage parents to talk with their children about the same standards of kindness and online safety that apply here in any other online space they use together (for example messaging apps used to stay in touch with project teammates), since those spaces are outside our platform and not monitored by us.
8. Reporting a concern
If you see something on the platform that worries you, or you experience or witness bullying, harassment or any behaviour that makes you feel unsafe, please tell a teacher/mentor or a trusted adult straight away, and email us at contact@immanuelonlineschool.com with as much detail as you can (what happened, who was involved, and any relevant screenshots). We take every report seriously and will respond promptly. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services first.
